Rafting down the Ganges
A Himalayan adventure means that you have to have whitewater rafting on the stretch where the Ganges tumbles out of the mountains towards the steaming plains of North India. Above Rishikesh you have numerous rapids interspersed with emerald pools dappled with sunlight.
About the Adventure
Wildlife
Start in the foothills, threaded through with rock strewn streams, bamboo forests and scrubland that is home to tigers, deer and wild elephant. Stay at Jim Corbett national park and enjoy jeep and elephant safaris early in the misty mornings as you track tigers through the sunrise.
Whitewater Rafting
Forget the world as you camp on the white sanded beaches of the Ganges in preparation for a wild ride down 26 rapids before floating down to serene Rishikesh. Safe rafting with experienced operators and safey kayaks to fish you out of the water if you fall into the water. You may even spot snow leopards.
Trek to Tungnath
Leave the road head at Sari and trek up to Tungnath over two days and two nights, past glacial lakes and rhododendron forests thick with himalayan bird life. Beyond the temple at Tungnath walk up to the highest point of the trek, a trail rich in religion and mythology.
Camp
Camp with magnificient views of snowcapped ranges, where you are looking at three countries, India, Nepal and Tibet in one glance. Enjoy a hot meal, by the shores of a glacial lake reflecting the full glory of the range, and you’re not too tired as most of the supplies have been carted up by gaily decorated mules.
